Product description

The KAMI rice paper table lamp in size M and the color Oak interprets the paper table lamp with a distinctive, softly rounded shape. Its rice paper shade resembles a hot-air balloon in its silhouette and gives the design a light, expressive appearance. Oak and metal complement the rice paper, creating a clear design contrast between the voluminous shade and the compact base.

The lamp was designed by Kazushige Miyake. With its distinctive shape, it is suitable as a lighting object for the bedside table, as a decorative accent in the living room, or as a lamp in the children’s room. The integrated dimmer switch allows the light to be adjusted to suit the desired setting. Please note that the required light bulb is available separately and is not included in the delivery.

The name KAMI means “paper” in Japanese, thus referencing the defining material of the lighting series of the same name.

Designer: Kazushige Miyake

About

Japanese designer Kazushige Miyake (b. 1973) graduated from Tama Art University in Tokyo with a specialization in design. He then began his career as a product designer in Great Britain before returning to Japan in 1999.

In 2005, he founded his own design studio. Today, Miyake Design is synonymous with clear and functional product design, from lounge chairs to suitcases, always with the discerning consumer in mind. Miyake favors simplicity and straightforwardness in his designs, and believes that every object has its own form.

This form is not limited to its physical presence, but also includes the aura or atmosphere that surrounds the object and its effect on those who use it.

Kazushige Miyake has received a number of prestigious design awards, including the iF Design Award, the Red Dot Design Award and the Good Design Award. Today, he is a member of the evaluation committees for both the Good Design Award and the iF Design Award.

Care Instruction:

Only clean the rice paper umbrella with a dry cloth or feather duster and avoid contact with water. The rice paper is very delicate, so be very careful when cleaning it. Clean the wooden base with a slightly damp cloth. Disconnect the appliance from the power supply before cleaning.
